Inauguration of programmes to be conducted with the cooperation of the Community and Environment Police Divisions to promote cultivation of coconuts in Sri Lanka, at the SSP office, Kalutara and Police HeadQuarters, Wadduwa

In the first week of November, a program was held at the premises of the SSP’s office in Kalutara and at the premises of the Wadduwa Police Headquarters to explain and demonstrate the methods on the coconut seed nursing with the patronage of its officers and interested villagers.

More than 46 residents and police officers from the Kalutara and Wadduwa areas who were interested in coconut cultivation participated in the program which was organized with the cooperation of the Community and Environmental Police Divisions.

It was explained that the main objective of the project was not to distribute seedlings or seeds but to make all the citizens of the country interested in nursing a seed coconut and getting a plant. Good hands Initiative explained in detail the basic traditional and technical steps for coconut seeds and to an enthusiastic group of participants in a very cordial atmosphere

The participants were given a practical presentation on how to maintain seed coconut nurseries and the good hands hand book containing basic information on coconuts, coconut seeds and plants were distributed free of charge at the premises.
