Follow-up of a series of programs conducted with the Kalutara SSP’s Office and Wadduwa Police Headquarters

In the first week of November, Good Hands Initiative conducted a series of projects for nursing and free distribution of seed coconuts to residents in the area in conjunction with the Community Police Unit at the Kalutara SSP’s Office and Wadduwa Police Headquarters.

During the program, the seed nursing method was explained in depth and in practice, and seed coconuts were distributed free of charge to several local residents who participated in the programmes at the respective locations. The locals who had obtained the seeds were given the opportunity to plant coconut seeds in their own backyards, as per the instructions given, for more than a month. In mid-December, our team conducted a field visit based on information received from relevant police stations in each area, with the aim of examining the success of the project.

Although we could not study the action taken by all, we were able to connect with a greater number of recipients. GHI was able to see how successfully they have nursed, reflecting the success of the project. The recipients presented us with problems related to pests and nutrient deficiencies related to coconut cultivation and we provided solutions and advice on the spot as per our professional commitment.
